On Saturday, March 14, Pastor Ray along with at least three other members of our congregation will be attending Super Saturday in Wilbraham, MA. This event is a day of workshops, worship and connecting with other members of UCC churches and is sponsored by the Southern New England United Church of Christ. Even if you are unable to join us, we invite you to support us in the community service project we will be participating in on that day.
Essentially in every community in the Southern New England Conference, there are families who are struggling to provide basic food items for themselves. In the Wilbraham area, an organization that provides this service is the Community Survival Center, “a bridge of hope to the hungry and homeless since 1983.”
During times of need, donations of food can make a huge difference. We invite all Super Saturday participants to bring Food Donations to the event. Please bring a food donation – no expired items – or a check for a monetary donation to the Community Survival Center (payable to “Community Survival Center”).
The following food items are especially needed:
- Peanut Butter
- Instant Potatoes
- Cereal (hot and/or cold)
- Pasta and Sauce
- Hearty Soups
- Beef Stew
- Corned Beef Hash
- Canned Chicken
- Canned Fruit
- Canned Vegetables
During the lunch periods, all Super Saturday attendees are invited to help sort and pack the food donations for delivery. For more information about the Community Survival Center, visit http://communitysurvivalcenter.org
Please help us assist with this project by adding a needed food item to the marked boxed at the side entrance near the church office. For more information see Nancy Sides. Thank you for your support.
